How to Choose a Bathroom Sink
When you are seeking to make a decision about just what design of bathroom sink to get, a number of things should come to mind. This sink will certainly be used for personal cleanliness such as brushing your teeth and washing your face. As you will be looking at this sink closely while involved in these kind of activities, it would be much more pleasant if the sink you were looking at was appealing. You may also want a sink that says something distinctive about your bathroom as well as adds a real decorating touch. The days of one standard variety of sink tend to be over and basically your budget and creativity will influence your choice.
One style of sink which has become very trendy is the pedestal sink. This sink consists of a basin atop a pedestal, that contains the drain pipe. The pedestal sink will not provide for storage space underneath it, however it’s streamlined styling has made it a frequent preference for homeowners. A number of the pedestal sinks have got a good sized basin, but others have been designed in a petite size, and are generally excellent for the smaller ized bathroom or powder room.
The basin, or vessel, bathroom sink gives a completely distinctive concept in style and design. Instead of being embedded in a counter or vanity, the basin is a bowl that will sit on top of the underlying structure. These types of basins are obtainable in a large selection of products from glass to stainless steel to carved stone. Quite a few of these basins are also made of glazed ceramic.
The drop-in sink is probably the simplest sink to be put in. It can be set within the cut-out on top of the counter or vanity and the fixtures can then be attached. The drop-in sink will also provide storage places underneath it for cleaning items and aids. This particular kind of sink is also obtainable in a vast assortment of models and shades. There are even specialised companies which produce highly embellished porcelain sinks which are essentially works of art.
Wall-mounted sinks are generally attached right to the wall structure and have no additional support such as a pedestal or vanity. These wall-mounted sinks will give the impression of a lot more area in the bathroom and are for that reason a very good proposal for the more compact room. Corner wall-mounted sinks are also available, and make excellent use, especially in a small bathroom, of a space which may not be made use of otherwise.
Possibly the easiest sink to maintain sanitary is the under-counter sink. This variety of sink is placed underneath the cutout in the counter or vanity. The under-counter sink will result in more area on the counter or vanity compared to the drop-in sink. A lot of people choose this sink for its conventional look. These sinks come in a variety of materials and, despite the fact that porcelain is the most common, bronze, stone, stainless steel, or copper are available.
So you can see how important a bathroom sink is to your bathroom design.
Top Tips for Home Decoration using wrought iron lighting
March 30, 2010 by Stacy42 · 2 Comments
Any good interior designer will tell you to start with a central point of your room, around which your decorative objects may flow. Once you have selected your focus, find pictures in magazines and decorating books for inspiration. Then follow these 10 tips to decorate the interior of your home successfully:
1. Choose a base object of decoration: select an object of great impact as a starting point. This piece can be a floor cushion with a beautiful fabric, a poster or a painting, a floral arrangement, a vase, a rug or anything that goes well with your style. This object will set the style, theme and tone you expect to create in space and help determine your overall combination of colors.
2. Extend the color: Colors are one of the most important elements in the decoration of a house and gives harmony, co-ordination and endless possibilities to a space
Generally, a space has three main colors in descending proportions: a main color, secondary color and an accent color. Repeat the accent color in all parts of your environment in different ways (repeat at least three times) with a few strategically placed objects.
For example, put a red decorative throw and pillows on the couch, a rug decorated with touches of red on the floor, then add some red candles to the fireplace or frame your paintings in red to draw some of the accent color up onto the walls.
3. Illumination: The lighting of a space is as important as the colors you choose.
Ceiling light fixtures are in most cases the only design element you will add to the biggest open space you are likely to ever come across in interior design, so think carefully how to utilize it. italian chandelier can also completely transform a space as a piece of art by itself and also by giving other wall art and ornaments on shelves a new look choosing a nice art deco chandelier.
Table lamps, floor lamps and candles strategically placed in space can add warmth and interest where you need it most. Adding a new shade to a lamp also instantly changes the quality of light and the overall feel in the room.
Think about the effect you wish to achieve: crystal-accented light fixtures add sparkle, glamour and interesting plays of light and shadow. Murano and stained glass adds color and warmth. Brass, steel, wrought iron or copper can add anything from a classic to contemporary or modern to renaissance feel. Keep always open mind your choices about kitchen light fixture.
4. Finding a theme for your project is creative and enjoyable! A good theme will say something about yourself and your interests and will greatly simplify your decorating decisions when shopping.
Say your theme is Mediterranean decor, minimalistic decor, tropical decor or cabin decor, in each case the objects you choose will be basic enhancers in creating the look you want.
For example, you can easily create an “Old European” theme by adding some colorful glazed bowls, an oil painting (or print of one), simply adding a small chandelier or perhaps changing the wall color to tones of rich or soft pastels, or both.
The home is also a wonderful place to reflect the seasons with different holiday decorations. Have fun decorating with fall palates of oranges, browns reds and ocres, or let your living room be reborn with fresh cut flowers and fresh, bright colors for spring.
5. Refresh with floral decorations: floral decoration – from wreaths and silk flowers, to silk plants and fresh cut arrangements can bring a fresh perspective to your space and really make it come alive.
You can easily integrate your flowers and plants with any theme, whether it is adding a terracotta pot for Tuscan flair, tropical silk flowers or plants for your island theme or fresh cut lilies to welcome spring with both an eye-catching centre piece and a lovely fresh fragrance.
A single tulip in a simple ceramic vase on a mantle can have as much impact as an overflowing silk flower arrangement that adorns the dining table. The key is to add that little burst of color and vibrancy.
6. Decorate the walls: Pretend that your walls are a blank page, regardless of the color of paint. There are many items to decorate your walls, from paintings and posters to shelves, tapestries, sconces and boxes which make it difficult to know where to start. Remember to put your theme or style as the ordering principle.
Acrylic display shelves, highly fashionable posters, reinforce a modern style, while black and white pictures in wooden frames can create a sense of antiquity. To unify a group of pictures, frame them in similar frames.
Synchronize your wall art in relation to the size of the wall and furniture. The landscape paintings and posters with images of a scene open a small space and create “a window outside”, as do mirrors. Whereas modern art works well in wide open spaces and bring you “in”.
Water Bottles Need to be Clean to be Safe: How to Clean Your Water Bottle
March 21, 2010 by Stacy42 · 3 Comments
You are doing the right thing for the planet by filling up at home and carrying a reusable water bottle and you’ve chosen a safe, non-toxic bottle-but if it’s not kept clean then it may not be healthy.
Whether your drink bottle is a stainless steel bottle, SIGG bottle or a BPA free plastic water bottle, it is important to stop mould and other deposits forming in the bottle.
Wash your drink bottles with warm, soapy water at the end of every day and let the bottle air dry upside down with the top off every day where possible.
Should any mineral deposits or lime scale form inside, fill your clean water bottle with Distilled White Vinegar and let it soak for 24 hours. Then rinse with warm water mixed with one tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda), rinse out and let dry. Spots inside the bottle that look like “corrosion” are most likely a mineral deposit.
Fill your bottle with filtered water wherever possible. It tastes so much better, but also because water contains different minerals in every area this may affect what happens inside your bottle.
Do not allow liquids such as fruit juice to ferment inside the bottle.
With all reusable water bottles you can also try SIGG cleaning tablets and a specially-designed SIGG bottle cleaning brush, or simply a baby bottle brush. Only ever use a soft brush on aluminium bottles with lining like SIGG so as not to damage the lining. Stainless steel water bottles like Klean Kanteen and Nathan can handle a hard brush.
While all bottles are technically dishwasher-safe, it is recommended to not put them in a dishwasher. Most dishwasher powders are caustic, so they will eat into the metal of your bottle and damage the exterior pattern. Bottle tops should also not be put in the dishwasher because extreme heat expands and deteriorates the plastic.
Never freeze metal bottles as metal can split even with only a little water inside. Water does not always expand in a predictable direction! Freezing plastic water bottles is also not advisable because it may cause the plastic to breakdown and toxins to leach. It is fine to place your bottle in the refrigerator.

Black Decker Drill For Home Projects
December 9, 2009 by Stacy42 · 8 Comments
After staying in an apartment for several years I came to know what I did and what I did not want in my own home. The cheap rental included some great features like a nice breakfast nook but it also had some major drawbacks like the porcelain sink in the kitchen. After dealing with this particular item, I knew that stainless steel sinks were going to be the only option for me. Easy to install using basic power tools e.g. black decker drill.
Stainless steel sinks are a staple of today’s kitchen and some have even brought the items into their bathrooms. I personally could have this material peppered all through my home. I love the sleek industrial look and I also like that the material is very easy to clean and maintain. Stainless steel sinks are far superior to their porcelain counterparts in my estimation.
I say this because I like things to shine. Yes, porcelain is pretty shiny and the white material in my old kitchen was cleaned on a daily basis. However, it stained and it was impossible to get those stains out of the old sink. Rust from the faucet and drain had marked the porcelain and no matter how hard I scrubbed, the stains were still there.
As you can tell by the name, stainless steel sinks resist stains. They also shine and shimmer in beautiful silver tones when they are cleaned. I love using products like Barkeeper’s Friend on my stainless steel sinks because they glisten and sparkle when I am finished.
Occasionally, I will disinfect the kitchen sinks with bleach. The harsh chemical may be too tough on many kitchen surfaces but the stainless steel sinks are left more attractive than they were the first day that we installed them in the new home. These kitchen items are nearly indestructible.
I opted to purchase kitchen renovation items that had a common theme. We have stainless steel appliances and stainless steel sinks that segue into countertops made of the same material. Since the countertops merge right into the sinks, I never have to scrub the seams that are found in other units.
The clean, modern look in my kitchen makes this the favorite gathering place for friends and family in my home. The stainless steel sinks are the foundation for the heart of our home. The great thing is that we had a lot of options in designs and features. No matter what, you can’t go wrong with this material in your kitchen.
Improving your home with a variety of do-it-yourself projects can be a lot of fun (not to mention increasing the value of your home). Needless to say the project will go a whole lot better if you have the right tools for the job. Commonly Black Decker Power Tools is going to be required for most of the projects you tackle. I suggest you visit http://blackdecker.giftfun.org/ and review a selection of Black and Decker Power Tools before you start your next home project.

The tray on almost all high chairs is dishwasher safe, and many come with an extra tray. The chair itself can be easily cleaned depending on the material of the chair.
High chairs are built in a range of materials, including plastic, steel and wood. Some high chairs are multi purpose like the Combi high chair which can even convert to a desk and chair.
If you are looking to buy a high chair that has a smaller footprint because of your living space, many high chairs fold conveniently for storage. Some even fold almost totally flat, allowing you to store the high chair practically anywhere.

Choosing the Right Kitchen Backsplash
July 30, 2009 by Stacy42 · 8 Comments
When designing and selecting materials for your new kitchen backsplash, consider functionality along with beauty. Maintenance is a turnoff for many homeowners. Once installed, they want it to take care of themselves. Materials such as ceramic or porcelain tile, stainless steel, glass and stone can be crafted into beautiful backsplashes that require little or no maintenance. Altering how an older backsplash appears or designing one from scratch serves as a quick and efficient method of brightening up your kitchen without extensive work.
When selecting a kitchen backsplash, it is important to consider the kinds of fixtures, not appliances, you have in your kitchen. Since the appliances will be replaced over time, they are less essential to bear in mind. The fixtures, being more permanent items in the kitchen, are important to remember. A tile or tint of glass may match a paint color in the room, but if it clashes with the finish on a light or cabinet door fixture, the work will not look professionally done.
A desirable aspect concerning the use of tile as a backsplash is the large selection of colors, sizes, shapes and textures that are available. You could even request a custom painted tile job to match any design theme you have or want in your kitchen. Also, tile is easy to install and clean. Multiple experts of design suggest that if you have a tiled floor then you should choose the same tile for your kitchen backsplash in a smaller size. This simplifies things if you have trouble making design decisions. Similarly, if you have a natural stone countertop, continuing the counter up the wall makes a simple, consistent backsplash in your kitchen. Stone does require occasional resealing, but the small amount of maintenance is made up for in the beauty of stone. For country kitchen styles, metal backsplashes work very well. Fixtures in the room should be noted when selecting appropriate metal tiles so they do not clash with one another.
Trendy choices are available, as well. Stainless steel backsplashes create a modern, sleek look in your kitchen. This might be one case where considering the appliances could be important. Stainless steel refrigerators, stoves and dishwashers are common and in style. Stainless steel backsplashes act to compliment these appliances. One fresh design trend used everywhere these days, including kitchen backsplashes, is glass. It is often a good decision to install glass tiles to extend all the way up to the cabinets from the counters. Glass is easy to maintain and is scratch resistant. With the numerous choices on the market, you should find no limitations in selecting just the right material and style for your kitchen.
Different Sizes and Uses of a Garden Fork
June 6, 2009 by Stacy42 · 5 Comments
Not everyone has the luxury of large open spaces and a garden tiller to break up tough patches of ground to create a workable planting area. Sometimes, patches of ground are at a premium and therefore there is no room for a large motor-operated machine to break up the soil so the use of a garden fork is quite important.
Not all gardening jobs are light and in fact, many of them can be quite physically labor intensive with removing sod grass and breaking up soil topping the list. However, with a garden fork, you have a strong implement in which to break up tough soil, a physical, easier way to till by hand without any motorized aids.
The Right Size for the Job
The garden fork comes in a variety of sizes and styles and it will depend on your needs as to which one you choose. For small garden raised beds which needs some soil break up and simple root aeration, a small hand held garden fork would be perfect. However, for large patches of ground, a taller, stronger, heavy duty garden fork would be best for breaking up rocky soil, compacted dirt and aerating large plants and shrubs.
There is even a special garden fork specifically for garden composting and it looks similar to the gardening version except for the fact that the tines are farther apart and curved. With compost, you are turning and mixing peat and compost and you need tines that allow for chunks to prevent from clumping on the fork while at the same time still serving to scoop and mix.
How It’s Made
The large garden fork is largely made from stainless steel tines with heavy-duty forging but the handle could be made from a variety of materials. For instance, some of these tools may have a solid hardwood handle made for durability and time while others may be made from steel. The large version and even the smaller hand held version of the garden fork typically has a “D” shaped handle which offers your hands the best grip and leverage when digging into the ground.
Rubberized grips may be added to the garden fork to provide traction for your hands and to avoid slippage. Another reason for the grips on this particular garden tool is to help prevent the formation of blisters, a common malady gardeners suffer when faced with repetitive movements against a tool without hand protection.
All in all, the garden fork is an excellent tool for any gardener serious about turning the soil and creating something beautiful within a patch of ground. This tool is tough against stubborn soil and saves you some back-breaking physical labor to boot.
