Luxury Timepieces: The Tank Solo

November 19, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

One of the most sought after timepieces in recent years is the Cartier Tank Solo, an elegant and modern interpretation of the Louis de Carter.

Background on the Tank Solo

The original Cartier Tank Louis was designed in the early 20th century from the inspiration of battle and war. The Cartier Tank Solo watch echoes this inspiration with some slight variation, first of which being the overall case geometry which is a little wider then the normal Tank.

The white dial of the Solo watches are very simple and classic Cartier. Typically Roman numeral lettering and the differences come usually in the metal of the bezel or case which can be white, rose or yellow golds, or simple stainless steel.

The original collection for the Louis Cartier Tank collection, the Cartier Tank Louis watch is a powerful classic that draws upon mans urge and need for power, respect, and luxury. Originally crafted for his friends and family, the Cartier Tank Louis was not even offered for general sale to the public until 5 years after it was created in the early 1920s.

The Tank Solo Collection

You could take this watch to times square and knowingly strut your graces about without much of a second thought as to if you were pulling it off. Maybe most watch enthusiasts do not think to this level as they make a purchase, but I personally am always about context.

I typically opt for the more striped down stainless steel, with a black alligator leather strap. I find this is a great casual watch, particular if you are in a higher end City that requires a statement of class in constant occasions. I used to live in New York City, and I always found that a well designed stainless steel Cartier brought out the best in my days.

The yellow gold also looks very nice for the Cartier Tank Solo watch. These will be 18k gold, so be ready to fork out a little more cash if that is your style preference.

The Solo is truly an incredible timepiece, and one of the best watches Cartier has ever put to market.

Black Decker Drill For Home Projects

December 9, 2009 by · 8 Comments

After staying in an apartment for several years I came to know what I did and what I did not want in my own home. The cheap rental included some great features like a nice breakfast nook but it also had some major drawbacks like the porcelain sink in the kitchen. After dealing with this particular item, I knew that stainless steel sinks were going to be the only option for me. Easy to install using basic power tools e.g. black decker drill.

Stainless steel sinks are a staple of today’s kitchen and some have even brought the items into their bathrooms. I personally could have this material peppered all through my home. I love the sleek industrial look and I also like that the material is very easy to clean and maintain. Stainless steel sinks are far superior to their porcelain counterparts in my estimation.

I say this because I like things to shine. Yes, porcelain is pretty shiny and the white material in my old kitchen was cleaned on a daily basis. However, it stained and it was impossible to get those stains out of the old sink. Rust from the faucet and drain had marked the porcelain and no matter how hard I scrubbed, the stains were still there.

As you can tell by the name, stainless steel sinks resist stains. They also shine and shimmer in beautiful silver tones when they are cleaned. I love using products like Barkeeper’s Friend on my stainless steel sinks because they glisten and sparkle when I am finished.

Occasionally, I will disinfect the kitchen sinks with bleach. The harsh chemical may be too tough on many kitchen surfaces but the stainless steel sinks are left more attractive than they were the first day that we installed them in the new home. These kitchen items are nearly indestructible.

I opted to purchase kitchen renovation items that had a common theme. We have stainless steel appliances and stainless steel sinks that segue into countertops made of the same material. Since the countertops merge right into the sinks, I never have to scrub the seams that are found in other units.

The clean, modern look in my kitchen makes this the favorite gathering place for friends and family in my home. The stainless steel sinks are the foundation for the heart of our home. The great thing is that we had a lot of options in designs and features. No matter what, you can’t go wrong with this material in your kitchen.

Improving your home with a variety of do-it-yourself projects can be a lot of fun (not to mention increasing the value of your home). Needless to say the project will go a whole lot better if you have the right tools for the job. Commonly Black Decker Power Tools is going to be required for most of the projects you tackle. I suggest you visit http://blackdecker.giftfun.org/ and review a selection of Black and Decker Power Tools before you start your next home project.

How Wedding Favors Really Sets the Tone

September 23, 2009 by · 3 Comments

Wedding favors, as most of us know, are little gifts given by the bride and groom, or from their families, to the guests who attend the wedding and reception, as gestures of gratitude for having participated or whose time-and in many cases, some finances-was sacrificed to attend [and for gifts most likely given to the couple]. In most cases, everyone receives the same gift or groomsmen gifts, with perhaps there being “his” and “hers” favors; maybe some for children.

But what about special gifts for special guests or participants? Wedding favors for bridesmaids [and a very special one for the Maid of Honor] are extremely appropriate! The bridesmaids are usually the bride’s “best gals” or closest friends and often siblings, with the Maid of Honor sometimes being the Matron of Honor, such as mom, an aunt, or even grandmother in some cases.

Of course wedding favors come in many different styles and themes, so finding something lovely isn’t really a problem for cheap groomsmen gifts; it’s just that you really should come up with something for your bridesmaids that really stand out from the others. Bridal showers are traditionally planned and organized by the Maid of Honor, so…we’re talking to YOU! You brides can now leave the room, thank you.

Depending on what the tastes and backgrounds of the different ladies who have been chosen to be the bridesmaids, you will probably end up deciding upon a variety of special gifts for each individual.

There are all sorts of unique items to choose from available in one place, as providers of wedding favors are very good about considering such matters. Will the younger bridesmaids prefer a monogrammed jewelry tote bag? Or would they prefer some stylish flip-flops for personalized groomsmen gifts for taking to the beach if the wedding will take place in a tropical or beach setting? Other nice, and even useful, items include manicure sets, sleeping eye masks, or makeup pouches. A stainless steel “high-heel” cake server could be more appealing to the Matron of Honor, who will be more likely to have an established household.

Of course this is not an exhaustive list, but just a few ideas to get your ideas flowing.

Choosing the Right Kitchen Backsplash

July 30, 2009 by · 8 Comments

When designing and selecting materials for your new kitchen backsplash, consider functionality along with beauty. Maintenance is a turnoff for many homeowners. Once installed, they want it to take care of themselves. Materials such as ceramic or porcelain tile, stainless steel, glass and stone can be crafted into beautiful backsplashes that require little or no maintenance. Altering how an older backsplash appears or designing one from scratch serves as a quick and efficient method of brightening up your kitchen without extensive work.

When selecting a kitchen backsplash, it is important to consider the kinds of fixtures, not appliances, you have in your kitchen. Since the appliances will be replaced over time, they are less essential to bear in mind. The fixtures, being more permanent items in the kitchen, are important to remember. A tile or tint of glass may match a paint color in the room, but if it clashes with the finish on a light or cabinet door fixture, the work will not look professionally done.

A desirable aspect concerning the use of tile as a backsplash is the large selection of colors, sizes, shapes and textures that are available. You could even request a custom painted tile job to match any design theme you have or want in your kitchen. Also, tile is easy to install and clean. Multiple experts of design suggest that if you have a tiled floor then you should choose the same tile for your kitchen backsplash in a smaller size. This simplifies things if you have trouble making design decisions. Similarly, if you have a natural stone countertop, continuing the counter up the wall makes a simple, consistent backsplash in your kitchen. Stone does require occasional resealing, but the small amount of maintenance is made up for in the beauty of stone. For country kitchen styles, metal backsplashes work very well. Fixtures in the room should be noted when selecting appropriate metal tiles so they do not clash with one another.

Trendy choices are available, as well. Stainless steel backsplashes create a modern, sleek look in your kitchen. This might be one case where considering the appliances could be important. Stainless steel refrigerators, stoves and dishwashers are common and in style. Stainless steel backsplashes act to compliment these appliances. One fresh design trend used everywhere these days, including kitchen backsplashes, is glass. It is often a good decision to install glass tiles to extend all the way up to the cabinets from the counters. Glass is easy to maintain and is scratch resistant. With the numerous choices on the market, you should find no limitations in selecting just the right material and style for your kitchen.
