Planned Move to Washington DC Will Make a Difference

Moving is a stressful time but it doesn’t have to be. With a few helpful tips and some precautions, you can move across town or across country with a minimum of trouble and stress.
Moving to the Washington DC area has its own unique challenges. Choose a competent and experienced Washington DC moving and storage company to ensure that your move is as smooth and trouble free as possible.
Shop for the best utility service in your new location. Look at average utility usage in the area, season by season, and see what kind of costs you’ll be looking at. When planning carefully you will do your research well in advance. That way you can have things up and running in your new home as soon as possible – maybe even before you move in.
File a change of address with the post office so that your mail will be forwarded, as well as notifying friends and relatives of the change. If you want a security system at your new home arrange for that, too, and don’t forget to notify your current provider that you won’t need their services in the future.
If you haven’t done so already, find out where the library is in your new location. Track down recreational facilities, retail stores and grocery stores. If at all possible, use an internet mapping service to give you directions to the stores and services you’ll be using the most. This will save a lot of time and aggravation in the first few weeks of living in your new home.
Don’t just choose the first move you see, or the one with the lowest price. Look for a good Washington DC mover who has been in business for a number of years and is experienced in cross country or cross town moving.
You can save money by packing your own things but remember that movers are professionals and avoid damage at all costs. They can often pack your treasures better than you can.
If you have pets, don’t forget their comfort, either. If you’ll be driving a long distance, take food and water bowls and stop every couple of hours so you can all stretch your legs. Have all your pet’s favorite bedding and toys ready when you reach your destination so that they won’t feel insecure. Try to make your new place as homey as possible because you don’t want your four-legged friends to think they are should try returning to the old house.
Sites and Fun in Washington DC

There is so much to see and do in our country’s capital, Washington, DC that it is kind of not possible to see them all in one visit. However, that did not stop my other half and kids from making an attempt to cover everything on our recent vacation. Here are only a few of the highlights we experienced on that vacation.
Our first challenge before we even left home was finding an affordable place to stay in the Washington, DC area. For the most part, hotels are pretty high priced in that area and make it difficult to locate a good place for a family of five to remain without totally blowing the old budget. We ended up selecting the American Hotel in Bethesda, MD and are very pleased with our choice. It is not the most glamorous hotel in the region but extraordinarily convenient, clean and affordable. So, we highly reccomend it when looking for Bethesda hotels.
Then, on to the traveller sites we enjoyed. Of course we started with the famous National Monuments and Memorials. These included the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the Arlington Countrywide Graveyard . There were many more as Washington is a city of monuments and memorials. Many are found on the nation’s Mall but others are pretty spread out so that you will get a very good walk exercise if you intend to visit them all on foot as we did. (I admit I had to visit my Sacramento podiatrist when I got back home to deal with some foot pain from so much walking)
Next came our tour of the three different branches of official Executive buildings. When sightseeing in Washington, D.C, the regime, the Capitol and the high Court are key places to go to. Touring these galvanizing buildings will help you understand more about our government and its history. Plan ahead and learn about schedules and special events. The regime is the home and office of the President and is found at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. To arrange a tour you must make a request through one of your members of Congress. Group tours are held Tuesday through Saturday from 7:30 a. m. through 11:30 a. m. and are lined up one month in advance.
At the east end of the National Mall stands the majestic U. S. Capitol Building. Due to heightened security, the Capitol is open to the public for steered tours only.
The one thing you will want to do for sure is take plenty of photographs as you have a tendency to remember everything as you are going to remember everything as you are so impressed at the time but believe me, your memories have a tendency to fade and it is always better to have some pictures to help bring those memories into sharp focus. I’m not a Commercial Photographer but wish I was to have better captured some of the beauty we saw on ths trip
Also, in addition to the typical tourist attractions discussed above, you may find the Washington, DC area has some of the best restaurants in the country. I suppose this may be due to all of the important politicians that live there as well as the many dignitaries that visit the area and need to go out to eat.
Well, that rather sums up our trip and I can only hope that you get the opportunity to visit the Washington, DC area.
AC/DC Clamp Meters & Clamp On Multimeters
February 7, 2009 by Stacy42 · 3 Comments
There are many ways and methods to measure electrical current. One method most commonly used is running current through a known resistor. Voltage drop over this resistor is determined by the current and the resistor value. Many clamp-on multimeters and clamp-on current measuring adapters that can measure AC current are built in this way.
Some clamp-on multimeters can also measure DC currents. But instead of trying to describe how they work believe me they do and if you want a fast reading on how much amperage is flowing through one of your vehicle’s components then this is a perfect match for a fast look. Gone are the days when you hook this wire here and that wire there and then all of a sudden there was a crackling sound with smoke coming up and you had a burned up multimeter.
Of course with traditional clamp-on current meters, measurements can only be made on single conductors. If you need to measure current in multipair cables this usually needs covers to be moved to gain access to individual wires. But now there are some new special clamp on multimeters that can measure current in multi-core cables and power cords without the need to split them.
A low cost AC/DC clamp meter will usually do most of the simple light duty jobs that you may encounter in your repair work but, of course, if you are a professional then you need the best and latest technology available. There are many clamp on meters to choose from so do yourself a favor and decide what is best for your needs.
