How To Lay Off Some Pounds During Christmas
December 21, 2010 by Stacy42 · Leave a Comment
The Christmas season is coming fast and the kitchen smells of the favorite foods we love to eat every year. The downside is that if you are a health watcher – and a strict one at that – you will not enjoy the sumptuous treats that Christmas brings. But what if you were able to eat heartily without having to worry about weight gain? Here are some tips that will aid you in controlling your weight while still being able to enjoy the yuletide season.
First tip – Turn the usual Christmas recipes into weight-friendly ones. For example, Christmas cookies are sweet but they can also add a good amount of calories to your body. Why not try to make oatmeal cookies instead? Another example would be using tofu instead of pork, or using using fish in the place of beef in recipes, such as tuna lasagna. This is a way to prevent putting up too much weight during Christmas because you can simply modify those regular recipes with a weight-watcher’s version.
Tip 2 – Keep your body busy. This season means that you will have more time to spend at home and get away from the worries of the workplace. To maximize your body’s fat-burning activity, do not spend it on too much sleep. You can use this time as a payback for all the times you spent sitting at your office. You could have fun in decorating your home or the Christmas tree and still produce sweat. You can even try to walk your way to the department store if you need something, providing that it is at a walking distance from your place.
Tip 3 – Don’t forget to exercise regularly. Even if you are at home, you can still continue your exercise. Having fat-burning activities is different from regular exercise in a way that regular exercise needs to be done on a scheduled time. If the gym takes a rest for the Christmas season or you are just too hooked to stay at home during the holidays then you can buy your own fitness equipment so that you can still continue your exercise routines even if you are away from the gym. Home fitness machines various types so select the ones that complement the exercises that you are currently doing.
Even when the pull of the holiday fever is on you, you will still be able to keep your weight in check by promoting a healthy diet, having an active lifestyle, and doing regular exercise. When you follow these tips, you can still become within your ideal weight and enjoy the Christmas season at the same time.

Watch TV Online
March 30, 2010 by Stacy42 · 4 Comments
I had a long hankering to watch a television show from Australia that was being shown on WE television.
The station cancelled the show, and I was left wondering what I was going to do to see the rest of the series. It was a great show, and it held my interest each and every week, and it became one of those things that I found I could not wait to see the next time it aired.
When it was cancelled I didn’t know what to do. That’s when I found out that you could download TV shows online. Because the series I was watching was a few years behind what was showing in Australia, I couldn’t find the episodes I wanted, but you can download TV shows from the current season.
At the moment you may have to use your pc or laptop, but soon you might be able to do it on your HP Slate. There is a fee for it, though they did have a free trial I could have used.
Sadly, my computer it to old to handle or download TV shows, but I have the site book marked for when I get an updated computer this year at Christmas time.
Though I can’t pick up where I left off, I can see where things have gone in the last few years. If you have a favorite show that you can’t find, or perhaps you missed something and you want to go back, you can download and watch tv online.
Some will have a fee, though you may find some that are free. Remember when you download TV shows that you are going to use up a lot of memory, so you may want to watch them once or twice and then delete them from your hard drive. It will depend on what you want to do and how much your computer can hold.
You may also find that there are restrictions when you download TV shows.like having to watch hair remover adverts, You may not be able to keep them, though I’m not sure how they can make sure you don’t.
It might be something like Napster that allows you do download stuff, but there is a built in safeguard to ensure you don’t share it with anyone else.
If you want to download TV shows from an illegal sharing source, you should be aware that you might not be getting what you think you are getting, and you may get something that can destroy your computer.
It is far better to pay the small fee to be sure you aren’t getting something you haven’t bargained for.

I Just Want My Scalp To Stop Itching NOW!
August 29, 2009 by Stacy42 · 2 Comments
I’m here, I had itchy head itchy scalp so badly that all the white flakes on my head & shoulders from scratching would have had Bing Crosby singing I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas if he got within ten feet of me. And to make matters worse I could literally see my hair getting thinner before my eyes.
So, I go to my doctor and ask is there anything and I mean anything at all you can give me to keep my hair in? And of course Mr. Smart Aleck hands me a shoe box. Yeah right, thanks a bunch.
What is it with me and Doctors? I mean years ago I’m having my vasectomy. No joke I’m laying on the table he’s cutting away, I’m as nervous as a cat that just jumped off a roof into a dog pound. The next thing I know I see smoke and he says oops! Of course it was a joke, but I’m telling you, at the time it was not very funny.
So anyway I have itchy head itchy scalp like mad. I’m literally scouring the internet, going to health food stores calling anyone who even acts like they care, trying to find a solution any solution.
Why? Because if you have itchy scalp you know very well what I was going through. It can dang near drive you crazy at times. And as you know it always seems to itch at the worst possible times. Like when you’re on your very 1st date with someone you think might actually have potential. Or at a huge Job interview for a job you actually would like to have. Of course, that’s when it decides to itch.
You know what I mean, when the itching starts you don’t care you only want it to stop, you just want to find a solution.
Plus me being a guy I sure as heck don’t want to lose my hair on top of it. and of course my loving wife was very nurturing and reassuring about the whole thing. She said “oh don’t worry if you go bald we’ll just sell all your turtle neck sweaters at out next yard sale”. Of course I bought into it hook line and sinker and replied “why would we do that?” And her reply “so you don’t look like a huge roll on deodorant”
With her comment in my back pocket I knew I was at my whit’s end and needed a solution that actually worked.
My research led me to the conclusion that my dilema was actually caused by the inflammation from all the chemicals that were in my shampoo & conditioner that I was currently using. So I searched far and wide for any shampoo and conditioners that didn’t have any of the rediculous toxic chemicals that were causing my pain in the 1st place.
Like I said I went to health food stores, pharmacy’s you name it I went. At one store this blonde lady was so incredibly dense that I kept thinking I should design my own hair care product. Yep you got it, it would be black hair dye to turn blondes into brunettes and the name of the product of course would be Artificial Intelligence!
After tons and tons of searching and trying all manner of things I finally found one product line that actually works. And I don’t have itchy head itchy scalp any longer. The reason it does is just like I said, it alpdoesn’t have the toxic chemicals that cause your problem in the 1st place.
Plus, my hair looks like I just stepped out of a Salon. Yeah right I heard that on a TV commercial, but my hair does look a whole lot better than it has in years that’s for sure.

Buying a puppy soon?
April 5, 2009 by Stacy42 · 6 Comments
I guess a lot of people bought a puppy as a Christmas present. Lot’s of people do and it is something special with puppy-breath. They are so cute when they are a couple of months old and you can probably stand that they pee here and ppop there for a while, but as they grow up, and their cute-ness disappears, then what?
There are too many puppies that ends up in the pound a few months after Christmas and it is a shame. You either don’t buy any puppy or it is a commitment for life.
If you have bought, or consider buying a puppy then you need to know what site to go to. Almost any web site that sells dogs have dogs from puppy-mills. One of the best sites is PawSitesOnline. They manually approve every ad just to keep puppy-mills out. Not like Puppyfind and other sites that allow every back yard breeder advertise their mutts.
So please, if you need to know where there are puppies for sale online, then go to http://www.pawsitesonline.com!
PawSitesOnline is not only for puppy buyers. They also feature cats, both kittens and grown up cats. Right now there are Savannah cats featured, a rare breed that eminate from a wild African cat, the Serval. There are GREAT cats, 20-25 pound with black spots and reminds me of a bob cat or mountain lion. The best one is bespotted Cattery.
If you are a SERIOUS breeder and need to sell puppies to good homes then you really need to consider PawSitesOnline web site. You might not be accepted but it is worth a try.

The HP PhotoSmart E337 Review
February 27, 2009 by Stacy42 · 4 Comments
As digital cameras go, price is often an indicator of quality. But there are a surprising number of lower-end cameras tailored to the skills of new photographers that perform on par with or even better than their more expensive competitors. The HP PhotoSmart E337 is inexpensive, but users are full of glowing reviews – provided that you don’t expect too much out of the camera.
What should you expect from the HP PhotoSmart E337? Customers who have used the camera rave about the intuitive button layout and menu navigation. In fact, this camera is so easy to use that many customers have bought a PhotoSmart E337 for their children or parents. (Younger children should get digital cameras made specifically with kids in mind; the PhotoSmart E337 has a rather flimsy and insubstantial body that would break if tossed or dropped.)
Most customers bought this camera to have a simple point-and-shoot device for parties and special events. Others purchased bundles of the cameras to give as Christmas gifts for the younger photographers in the family. For what it is, the HP PhotoSmart E337 is an adequate camera. Its color and image clarity are on track with similarly priced competitors, and its ease of use even surpasses some of the more expensive models out there.
In keeping with the competition in its price range, the HP PhotoSmart E337 has plenty of internal memory (16MB) so that it can be used without a memory card. The camera comes with a USB port and cable for easy photo sharing. It’s also got leading-edge internal red eye removal. Windows Vista fans will appreciate that this camera comes fully Vista ready. It is also fully compatible with Mac OS X v10.3.9 and 10.4.
The HP PhotoSmart E337 runs on two AA batteries. Other camera features include motion video and direct printing to any PictBridge certified printer. The camera comes with a 90 day limited warranty and 24/7 customer support. It also has a hand strap, user manual, and software CD.
So what are the drawbacks of owning an HP PhotoSmart E337? Unfortunately, there are a few. As mentioned before, the camera isn’t the sturdiest on the market. It’s light and feels rather fragile. Image quality has been described as “acceptable”, but not great. The camera is best used for point and shoot pictures; it has no optical zoom. Finally, the 1.5 inch LCD preview screen has been described as small and grainy. Kids and novice photographers would probably have fun with this camera, but real photography enthusiasts are advised to look elsewhere.
The HP PhotoSmart E337 can be found wherever digital cameras are sold. It retails for about $80 US.
Banff Alberta Hotels
February 20, 2009 by Stacy42 · 5 Comments
If you are planning a trip to the Canadian Rockies you will find there is a large selection of Banff Hotels. In the Canadian Rockies there are several rustic back country lodges where one can get in touch with nature, being that many of these lodges don’t have running water or electricity. Young travelers will find plenty of hostels to choose from in Banff that are fine if you don’t mind shared bathroom facilities.
You will also find the standard roadside motels that are quite common along long stretches of highway in the US. Small bed and breakfasts can be found in the city as well as in the surrounding area. One can also find larger Banff Hotels that offer luxurious resort hotels with lots of first class conveniences. The historic mountain resorts will give visitors a taste of old Canada prior to modernization.
For travelers whose focus is on outdoor activities many of the larger resort hotels offer horseback riding lessons, tennis courts, swimming pools, hot tubs, golf courses, boat rentals, business centers, fine dining and guided hike tours within the national park. Most other resorts and hotels offer few amenities and prefer to remain without the modern conveniences in the hotel rooms.
It’s hardest to find a hotel in Banff AB between the months of June to September so make your hotel reservations well in advance. Banff is also a popular travel destination over the Christmas and New Years holiday season. During the winter ski season many hotels pack out with visitors who are eager to ski on the many slopes the surrounding mountain areas have to offer.
History of Mistletoe
February 1, 2009 by Stacy42 · 5 Comments
History of Mistletoe
The mistletoe, native to the forests of Northern Europe, is a parasite implant on deciduous and evergreen trees which produces yellowish flowers and waxy white berries. Its closest relative in North America has yellowish flowers and waxy white berries, and is also commonly known as mistletoe. Notably, it is the official floral emblem of the State of Oklahoma.
The name mistletoe came about from two Anglo – Saxon words: mistel which means dung and tan which means twig. And so, mistletoe quite literally means dung on a twig. Mistletoe infers that life can spring up from dung. This leeching plant grows and thrives on the dung of birds on the branches of trees. As a result, mistletoe became the symbol of vivacity and fertility.
The Christmas and New Year tradition of embracing for the bashful and kissing for the brazen under a sprig of mistletoe dates back to olden Britain. Also, it was prevalent among the Druids who were the learned class of the Celts.
The Druids celebrated the beginning of winter ( winter solstice ) by collecting mistletoe and burning it as a sacrifice to their pagan gods. To ensure a year of good faith, peace, and familial harmony, they hung sprigs of mistletoe around their homes. Twigs of the evergreen displayed visibly outside their homes welcomed relatives, friends, neighbors and weary travelers and the mistletoe within encouraged them to embrace shamelessly. Feuding parties or foes who happened to meet under trees that contained mistletoe were required to lay aside their weapons and settle their differences.
The Druids believed that the mistletoe had healing properties. It was often prescribed for female infertility and as an antidote for poisons of all kinds. The gathering of mistletoe was a ceremony by the highest priests using gold knives. Such a carefree rite of harvesting mistletoe is dramatically portrayed in Bellinis opera Norma.
The Celtic Druids were not the only people who ascribed so many marvelous attributes to the mistletoe, the Scandinavians, who called it mistilteinn; also believed that it was the plant of peace, the plant of hope and the plant of harmony. The Scandinavian lore claims that the mistletoe belonged to Frigga, the Scandinavian star of inclination, and the embracing and kissing custom is thought to have come from this notion.
Mistletoe was also used for a decorative green in the Roman Empire during their feasts of Natalis Solis Invicti and Saturnalia. Due to its ties to idolatrous festivities, the Church banned the use of mistletoe when Christmas on December 25 was officially recognized as the birth of Christ in the the fourth century.
As an alternative to the mistletoe, the holly was ironically proposed even thought it too had strong associations with atheist rituals. Nevertheless, the hollys white flowers were to signify the purity of Christ, the acerbic leaves were to symbolize the thorns in Christs crown and the red berries as drops of His blood. Thus, the Holly became a Nativity tradition, but, surprisingly enough, the churchs ban on mistletoe which was in effect throughout the Middle Ages still persists today.
