The Butcher block has long been around, since the beginning of use for those original butcher blocks. The Monarch Block is only one of a variety of those types of butcher blocks that are used by commercial meat cutters now going on 100 years. It’s become very popular for people to place into their residentials.
Most home owners love the look of the Monarch butcher block for an island in their residential. Before the dovetailed blocks came along those butchers of past would use sycamore rounds to cut the meat on. Since they would split often it would end up being more of a health problem than anything. Now the butchers block is made from small strips of maple that have been laminated and glued together.
These Monarch Butcher blocks are a big long lived cutting block that is easily used by those commercial meat chopping boards on the market. They are built to hold many pounds of meat that means they can be used even on the large pieces that would at time make the other blocks become unstable.
The grain that is used on these butcher blocks is made so that they will last longer. When a butcher chops down on it with that knife, it will actually cut in between those fibers of wood. The hard maple wood that is used for these Monarch butcher blocks is very durable and can be used for years.
Along with the double dovetail that helps keep the wood locked together you can find no other finer butcher block on the market. Though many will try with different materials that will be used. The dovetail will be tapered and when two are joined together it creates a snug fit that will not come apart, and glue is applied just to make sure that it will last even longer.
Sometimes these boards are available used, either in flea markets or on websites such as ebay because they are so durable. the commercial ones tend to be less pleasing to the eye, but are extremely practical.
Burcher block furniture is a welcome addition to any kitchen. They are warm, handsome and long lived. This means they are actually better value for money in the long run than some of the cheaper alternatives. A butcher block chopping board will last a life time – or longer.
