Iceland doesn't think about anything – it's a barren lump of rock. As for the people who live there: as little as possible – they're too busy collectively wringing their hands over their own economic meltdown. The Althing is likewise concentrating on keeping their jobs by concentrating on Iceland's own economy.

Of what possible value is the distinction of 'landlocked' when discussing a global economic crisis? And what kind of statement is "Legal empowerment of the poor"? I am not mocking; I am sincerely asking for an explanation of phrases that don't make a lot of sense. I would be fascinated to see whatever high-school textbook you copied that from; could you please post the title and author for us to see?

I am not trying to be rude; I know you are in fact a 15 year old girl in the UK, so my initial suspicions that you were quoting something from a school textbook or a teacher's lecture were confirmed. I simply would like to see where such phrases originate. Perhaps when I better understand the context – and the author – I can better supply an answer to a question that, by itself, appears to be nonsense.
