A Hawaiian Vacation: Considerations for Planning a Great Trip!
September 28, 2009 by Stacy42
Planning a Hawaii vacation can be quite involved – there are so many unique features on each of the islands and so little time to visit them. Hawaii contains huge waterfalls, majestic mountains, and wildlife, plants and flowers you can find nowhere else. Whatever your plans for a vacation, Hawaii has something for you, and it will take some thought for you to decide on what you want out of your vacation.
Many wedding couples and guests prefer to stay at one of Hawaii’s resorts. Quite a few resorts offer package discounts including hotel room, meals, and a variety of activities; some also have clubs for children, on-site spas and shopping, and their own Hawaii tours. Your friends or travel agents may be able to help you with resorts that they recommend, and many resorts run ads and specials to tell you about their amenities.
Be sure to travel to other islands during your stay. Kauai, in particular, is a popular vacation destination. Choosing a Kauai vacation package might just be a perfect trip! As the second largest of the islands, Maui is another popular destination in Hawaii. History buffs may choose to travel to Oahu, location of Pearl Harbor. Those into geology can take a tour of Mauna Kea, an active volcano on the “Big Island” of Hawaii.
Taking a Hawaii cruise is yet another option to consider. Why stay in a hotel when you can stay on the ocean itself? A cruise in Hawaii allows you the opportunity to see many of the islands, and travel to a variety of ports. Stay on board the cruise ship for activities and fine dining, or travel onto land for hiking, biking, and authentic cuisine. Many cruise trips are family oriented with activities geared toward children. Others are romance-based for couples.
Whatever you choose for your Hawaii vacation package, your experience is sure to be memorable. After you arrive in Hawaii, remember to ask locals for recommendations and suggestions to enhance the authenticity of your trip. Take lots of photographs, wear sunscreen, and most of all, have fun! Some scientists will go anywhere for a proper test, including the mouth of a (sleeping) Hawaiian volcano. Dr. Inge Ten Kate, a University of Maryland Baltimore County research assistant, led an expedition into a cinder cone atop Mauna Kea, Hawaii, to test the prototype for an instrument that will be a miniature laboratory to discover the composition of rocks and atmospheres on moons, asteroids, and planets across the solar system.
Why arent you guys more popular? This shit is awesome.
A team from Hilo High School took top honors at the Big Island Regional Remotely Operated Vehicles competition Saturday in Hilo.
A loading dock in the makai boat launch ramp at Honok?hau Small Boat Harbor collapsed Sunday after deteriorating heavily.
I recently spent 7 nights on the Big Island and then 2 weeks on Kauai. In someways I wish I had spread it out a little longer n the Big Island. I strongly suggest going to the Big Island first. I was told by a healer that the Big Island heals you for the beginning and Kauai finishes it. That was certainly true.
On the Big Island I suggest at least renting a car and not spending all your time in one place. The whole island can be driven in one day but you will miss alot. Spend some time at Volcano National Park…..and I highly recommend a tour to Mauna Kea to see the sunset and stars. It amazed me that I could practically experience seasons of winter and summer and tropics to farmland all in a 300 mile radius.
You can see most of Kauai in 4 days…but there is alot of nature to see. There is a trail right before you get to the river at the Arborteum that is about a 1 1/4 mile hike. At the top the view is incredible. There is also a catamarran tour of the Napali Coast that shouldn't be missed. Unfortunately I was there in March when they had heavy flooding most of the time but that didnt' stop me from driving around. Also, you must see Waiamea Canyon, it is truly the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.
If you can at all extend your vacation try for a few more nights on the Big Island. Have a great trip. You will love it.
